Obama’s first visit to Kenya as the USA president has been described as historic by the east African nation’s ruling elite, scholars and ordinary citizens.

Canada too issued its alert earlier in the month urging its citizens to exercise a high degree of caution due to the increasing number of terrorist attacks and incidents of crime. More than 3,000 people are expected at the meeting.

In April, the Al Qaida-linked militants massacred 148 people at the region’s Garissa University, a lot of them students.

Vice reports since the tragedy at Westgate mall, Kenyan authorities have detained four Somalis allegedly connected with the attack.
