Shares of SunEdison reached its highest level in almost 7 years Tuesday morning after the solar panel maker said it completed a 1 Megawatt (MW) canal top solar power plant for the Karnataka Government in India.

The canal top solar system was installed on the banks of the Krishna river and it creates energy from solar power while saving water by shading canals to reduce evaporation. The system also operates at cooler temperatures compared to traditional land-based systems and as a result, can generate more energy, the company said.

SUNE was up almost 2% in recent trade, with a new 52-week range of $13.09 to $32.08, the best level since October 2008.
