A statement announcing the postponement was issued on Friday by the acting senate clerk, the statement said, “This is to inform all distinguished senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that the resumption of the senate in plenary has been rescheduled from Tuesday, 21st July 2015 to Tuesday, 28th July, 2015”.

Buhari told visitors at the State House in Abuja, including his vice-president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, who came to pay him sallah homage, that during and immediately after the prayers, a surging crowd of youths nearly overwhelmed the security. Because in a mob like this, anybody with a sharp knife can get access and do a lot of damage.

“I was very aware of your high expectations when I assumed office and I reassure you, my fellow citizens, that since my inauguration on the 29th of May this year, I have been working with utmost dedication to meticulously plan and tackle the many national challenges which we identified and promised to resolve”.

Wishing all Nigerians a prosperous and peaceful nation, he said; “The Almighty God who loves everyone of us so dearly wants us to live together in peace and prosperity”. I was advised to enter from the ADC’s seat, I refused. I went across trying to wave my hand to the wild youths who wanted to see me.

“So, all the policemen that were deployed and soldiers since six o’ clock in the morning, before I came out two hours later in the rains, can not protect you”.

Osinbajo assured Nigerians that they would soon be enjoying the good of the nation that will be made possible by this administration.

Continuing, he added:‎ “At all times, it should be borne in mind that as a people, regardless of differences in either religious beliefs or ethnic origin, we must remain bound together in the pursuit of a common resolve, especially in the challenge of building a better and a more united nation, where “though tribe and tongue may differ in brotherhood” we should continue to stand”.

“Our country is one with a great potential”.

He later presented Sallah gifts which included a giant greeting card, a photo frame and a mat designed in the national colours.
