A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a grandfather who was stabbed to death after he was involved in a minor crash on a village road.

Sussex Police have been stepping up their efforts to find the person responsible for the horrific attack which occurred at about 8.40pm last night (Thursday, July 17).

A manhunt has been launched after a driver got out of his auto and stabbed another motorist to death after a vehicle collision.

Mr Lock, who is said to have been a retired solicitor from Worthing, died at the scene after an air ambulance landed and paramedics carried out first aid.

“Inquiries are ongoing to trace the suspect”.

“I am appealing for anyone who has any information about what happened to come forward immediately, no matter how unimportant you might think it is”.

The suspect is described as a white man, aged between 30 and 40, around 6ft tall and had shoulder length brown wavy hair and a thin face.

“He was a key member of Worthing Excelsior Cycling Club for about 50 years and served the club well in many different roles. It’s such a quiet little village and so unusual for something like this to happen”.

Members of his family were today seen leaving floral tributes at the scene, while colleagues paid tribute to a “gentle, fair man and a good friend”. “We need to hear from witnesses who saw the collision, the suspect or the auto involved, particularly if anyone filmed the incident or saw anyone filming it”.

Another resident, who declined to be named, said: “It’s horrendous”.

However, for some neighbours this was not their first experience witnessing a murder investigation taking place.

The victim is believed to have hit his attacker’s classic vehicle from behind, following which both drivers pulled over. The 79-year-old was driving south on the A24 when he is understood to have hit the rear of a auto in front of him, just past the junction with the Black Horse pub. Thankfully such brutal “road rage” attacks are generally a rare occurrence on our highways in the UK.

“The attacker has then driven off but at this stage we have a limited description of his vehicle”. They nearly feel that the vehicle empowers them but in reality it does not.
