Ant-Man is a great new take on the Marvel Universe while incorporating some of those same characters we all know. Reed said he found Ant-Man “interesting because he was one of the original Avengers, which I think people forget about”.
With the comedic Rudd leading “Ant-Man“, the film ups the laughs with the actor delivering witty, self-deprecating one-liners, while supporting star Michael Pena often steals the spotlight as Lang’s dim, goofy sidekick Luis.
While admittedly, I’m feeling a little superhero fatigue, ANT-MAN squashes some of those generic worries as the film offers a different viewpoint than normal. “I was going to be held accountable for it, and there was a reason for doing it”, Rudd said. Business as usual this is not.
Justin Chang ofVariety called it “a winningly modest addition to the ever-expanding Disney/Marvel family”.
Admittedly, I spent most of the film daydreaming about what it could have been if it had been left in the hands of Edgar Wright (who left the project past year over creative differences). The latest Marvel film is unspectacular and forgettable – but still entertaining. In conjunction with the particle, he developed a suit that would allow the wearer to shrink down to the size of an ant, but have the strength of over 50 grown men. He lends his comic skills and vast likability to the Scott Lang/Ant-Man character, and it’s a sure bet that he’ll don the suit again. Sometimes his robot-looking ant friends were a bit much for me, but they were also fairly often amusing as they moved around in unison and assisted Lang.
He is just a normal guy who wants to be part of his daughter’s life and be a hero. It means Paul played his favorite fakeout prank, the one where he says he’s about to show a clip from his new movie but it turns out to be a scene from the really bad ’80s alien movie Mac and Me.
Among the effects of Pym particles, which lets Ant-Man get tiny, is severe psychological distress, so Hank Pym thought he was somebody else for a while.
“Ant-Man” is the first superhero flick in a long time that surprised me on multiple levels.
You might get lost if you know nothing about the backstory. When asked to play the feisty Hope van Dyne in Marvel’s superhero movie “Ant-Man“, actress Evangeline Lilly had some initial doubts.
She’s a fully realised person and not any way a cliché of what we expected a woman to be like in a superhero movie.
