Michael Barbella didn’t drive down to Salisbury from New Jersey to enjoy the United States Specialty Sports Association World Series softball tournament opening ceremony on Wednesday.
Two New Jersey dads were arrested in Wicomico County on Wednesday, after Police say they got into a fight over a softball team.
“Your daughter is off the team becase of you, Mike”, one the men shouts at the other before things got really rough between the two of them.
“According to the report, Barbella and…Michael Duffy, were involved in a mutual physical altercation, that started when Barbella pushed Duffy, and Duffy pushed back”.
It ends with Barbella lying on the ground, bleeding heavily from his face, while bystanders are heard telling Duffy he has done “enough” damage. He was being treated by EMS workers when police arrived just after 6 p.m.
Police said an investigation into the dustup revealed that Barbella allegedly challenged Duffy via text message to a fight earlier in the day and had driven to Maryland to confront him.
The two were arrested following the altercation, which took place in Salisbury, Maryland, and were charged with second-degree assault, disorderly conduct. Duffy, 45, of Mays Landing, according to a news release from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office. A local court initially held Barbella on a $20,000 bond, subsequently reduced to $5,000, which he posted and gained his release.
Deputies in Salisbury responded to the Wicomico County Youth and Civic Center after the fight.
