The Hollywood Reporter has the story and it couldn’t be more ideal.
“Arrested Development’s” Cera inherits the role of Robin on the big screen from Chris O’Donnell, who played the live-action character in Joel Schumacher’s “Batman Forever” and “Batman & Robin”. The LEGO brand’s holy tetrad, Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, will produce.
The team behind The Lego Movie’s Lego Batman spin-off (currently known, somewhat logically as Lego Batman), already have Will Arnett back as the Dark Knight. “Batman is the ultimate in white people problems”, he said earlier this year.
Cera will first flex his voiceover chops in Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg’s upcoming raunchy animated feature Sausage Party. He was last seen in David Cross’ indie Hits, and will soon return as George Michael Bluth in the planned fifth season of Arrested Development.
Cera, additionally, has acquired the film rights to Masters of Atlantis, the novel by Charles Portis, the author who also wrote True Grit.
The Lego Batman Movie is set to swoop into theaters February 10, 2017.
