“We are not involved as the investigation on 1MDB is led by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID)”.

“The actions taken by the MACC was to carry out duties and functions as an independent commission”, the statement said.

The source said the police team, comprising 12 officers and men, was at the office of the DPP at the MACC Special Operations Division at Precinct 3 here for two hours.

The police have since released MACC ex-Advisor Rashpal Singh and an officer with the AG’s Chambers, Jessica Gurmeet Kaur, after both were held for questioning in connection with the draft charge sheet.

Malaysian police chief Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar has said the three were detained to assist police in investigations involving the editor of the Britain-based whistleblower website Sarawak Report, Clare Rewcastle-Brown.

Meanwhile, the police are also conducting related investigations into 1MDB, while Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) is looking into possible contraventions of financial rules and regulations connected to 1MDB.

It said the investigation report into the alleged transfer of funds had been referred to the Attorney-General.
