SIR PAUL MCCARTNEY performed a string of BEATLES classics in his headline set at Lollapalooza on Friday (31Jul15), and surprised the crowd with an impromptu duet with ALABAMA SHAKES’ singer BRITTANY HOWARD.
The reach of Paul McCartney’s influence and the range of his demographic have no conventional bounds. Fuse included a YouTube video with the story. Later, he brought out Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes (above), whose sophomore album Sound and Color hit No. 1 this past spring.
But Kaskade’s super-bass and his wild light show attracted a massive, dancing crowd to Perry’s Stage, where fellow EDM stars DJ Snake, What’s So Not and Destructo played earlier in the day. Howard emerged with her guitar and shared vocal duties with McCartney.
Any Paul McCartney performance is an exciting prospect at this point, especially at a festival as big as Lollapalooza. Among other headliners, the story said, are Metallica, Florence + The Machine, Sam Smith, A$AP Rocky, the Weeknd and “more than 120 other acts”.
Live from the Downtown Chicago’s historic Grant Park, the festival will stream daily from 3-11pm ET (12-8pm PT) with encore performances airing overnight.
