While it’s true that Fassbender has been playing Magneto since First Class, this is the first time fans have been able to check out his new suit for Apocalypse.
He’s fallen in love and he’s basically left his metal ways behind.
With X-Men: Apocalypse, it looks as if director Bryan Singer will cap off trilogy in the biggest way possible – with Apocalypse himself.
“Apocalypse finds Erik [Lensherr] at a low ebb and recruits him”. Whether Nightcrawler is her son like in the comics is unclear, but doesn’t really sound like it from that description.
“He’s not teaching anybody how to fight at the moment”, McAvoy told EW of Professor X’s School for Gifted Youngsters. “But of course this movie challenges all of that”, McAvoy says.
After the reveal of the teaser at San Diego Comic-Con, we get our first true glimpse of our titular villain, alongside his cohort of mutants, for the upcoming installment in the X-Men franchise, X-Men: Apocalypse.
Well, maybe he’s overstated the case.
“This is kind of the introduction to them”, Singer, returning for his fourth X-Men movie, said. According to the mag, Apocalypse will recruit a young Storm from the streets of Cairo, Angel from Berlin, and Psylocke, who is working “behind the iron curtain” for Caliban. “At the same time, it has concluding aspects of those previous stories”.
The end is pretty much always nigh in the X-Men universe, but next year our superheroes will truly face the Apocalypse – that is, a 5,000-year-old mutant who goes by the name Apocalypse, played by Oscar Isaac. We’ve seen Magneto slowly progress towards a more comic-booky look over the last two films, and though he still lacks the major purple coloring seen in the source (probably for the best), he’s finally garbed in a full-on battle suit.
