The girl is believed to be approximately 4-years-old.

On June 25, a woman walking her dog on Massachusetts’ Deer Island came across a trash bag on the beach. The child was wearing white leggings with black polka dots. Inside was bag was the body of a 4-year-old girl and a zebra-print blanket.

As GoLocalWorcester reported earlier this week, the MSP are actively investigating the finding of the girl and are asking for the public to help them identify her.

Last week, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children created the CG photo – and more than 45 million people have seen it so far.

But authorities still haven’t identified the girl.

“I think we all know she’s a handsome child”, Suffolk County District Attorney Dan Conley said.

They also have no idea how she died. There were no obvious signs of trauma to the girl’s body, and an autopsy performed by the state medical examiner did not determine the cause or manner of the child’s demise.

Conley said Tuesday that authorities are awaiting the results of toxicology tests to determine if the girl was poisoned or ingested drugs.

This little girl only weighed about 30 lbs. and was about 3.5 foot tall. Her body was basically intact but had some decomposition. Authorities won’t say how long they believe she had been dead by the time her remains were discovered.

About 20 tips were credible enough to be investigated, but all of those girls were located and found to be safe. “We ask the parents or caregivers of this young girl to please step forward and clear your consciences”, said Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley.

Several people shared the picture of the girl, expressing sorrow, grief and anger over her death. State police have launched a massive social media campaign to identify the toddler, with her images shared more than 40 million times in the past week and tips pouring in from across the country.

Fox News shared that they have with so many people seeing the photo it has been breaking records. “Shared in San Diego”, wrote another.

Investigators also still have not been able to figure out how she died, which has deepened the mystery.
