The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday hit back at Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi following his “56-inch” chest jibe directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that those having a limited vision of 5.6 millimetres naturally would not understand the unlimited vision of 56.

“We (Congress) will not allow the government to acquire even an inch of land of the farmers and won’t let the land acquisition bill to be passed in parliament”, he told a Congress convention here. “56-inch chest will become 5.6-inch chest in six months, you all will see”, Rahul said.

Reacting sharply to Rahul’s remark that the Vasundhara Raje government’s “remote” was with Lalit Modi in London, it said Congress was used to running governments by remote control and believed it was a “model” but it was not so in BJP.

Mr Gandhi also reiterated that the party would give ticket for Lok Sabha and Assembly polls only to those people who would work on the ground and roads for farmers, labourers and poor.

He said the “Lalit Modi government” in Rajasthan had taken many anti-people measures such as closure of about 1700 schools and discontinuation of the scheme for free medicines which had been introduced by then Congress Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. “But today, we know what kind of talk is going on because of son-in-laws”, he said, in an apparent reference of Vadra who is embroiled in controversies related to land deals.

This came amid an attack on Congress by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday. “They press the button and she jumps”. Portending a stormy monsoon session, Rahul vowed that his party will not allow the passage of the bill in Parliament.

Rahul also accused the Prime Minister of making empty promises ahead of elections and now turning the other way by remaining silent on corruption.

Rahul Gandhi On A 2 Day Visit To Rajasthan: The Vice president of congress Rahul Gandhi have reached Rajasthan on a two day visit where he will undertake a padayatra at Hanumangarh.

“As through the days of the British Raj, the distant management of the federal government right here was in London. Similarly, Raje government’s remote control was in the hands of Lalit Modi in London”.

It may be recalled that Raje was in the dock recently for helping Lalit Modi secure immigration papers in the United Kingdom, where he has been living since 2010 after been named in several corruption cases linked to the IPL.
